People came to Sri Lanka and had
resided in 6 BC. Only Sri Lanka had the story after reside the person
who came from abroad as soon start the kingdom. This story was written
by 275 AD. In 275 AD king Mahasen
was governed our country. When time of King Mahasen move the 1000 years
after died first King of Sri Lanka although there had a story which was
carried by mouth of ancient people. There are books called Mahawansaya and
Thupawansaya which are the historical books of Sri Lanka says that the Lord
Buddha had come to Sri Lanka in very ancient (200 BC) time. Oldest city and lodest kingdom of Sri Lanka was situated at Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura was continued as capital of Sri Lanka at 1500 years. Anuradhapura kingdom was started by king Pandukabhaya. After came Buddhism to Sri Lanka at the time of King Devanampiyathissa and after Anuradhapura became beautiful city. Singhalese person was farmers. After came Buddhism to Sri Lanka all of them do their things with Buddhism.There fore lot of valise were created near kingdom. Ex.. Thisa wawa, Abhaya Wawa, Nuwara wawa. We can see the ruins of old kingdom of Anuradhapura. There is a place called Lowamahapaya was created by King Dutugamunu at 161 BC. This Building may be had 9 flours and each flour had 1000 rooms. Now we can see only rock towers. Anuradhapura had lot of Pagodas. They are Ruwanwalisaya, Thooparamaya, Jethawanaya, Abhayagiriya, Mirisawatiya and Lankaramaya. All of those identify Atamasthana means noble 8 pagodas of Anuradhapura. Other important places of Anuradhapura is Samadhi Buddha, Sandakadapahana means half of the moon rock and carving it. There is a pond which is double pond called "Kuttam pokuna" which is very impportant. This double pond is 132ft * 91ft long. There is 18ft gap between the ponds. Samadhi Buddha has various qualities. most people see the Samadhi Buddha with out close their eyes. Mr. Jawahallar Neru also keep the Samadhi Buddha picture in his prison house. Anuradhapura is World HERITAGE city. Please protect it...
